The first chapter got me.
I immediately implemented what I read and that was enough. I could have stopped right there.
That’s when you know a book is going to impact you in a positive way.
The first chapter outlines six great steps to time management as follows:
- Touch It Once: If you touch it, take action. Assess how long something is going to take before you deal with it.
- Make lists: The key with this list is to identify the 6 most important items for your day.
- Plan How Much Time You Will Allocate to Each Task: If you’re not doing this already, you will be amazed how much time things take. As a guideline, carve out 6 hours to do the 6 most important things.
- Plan The Day: It’s also important to build in some buffer time to accommodate interruptions.
- Prioritize: Most of your day needs to be sent on proactive, not reactive activities if you want to move forward.
- When handling items, ask yourself, “Will it hurt me to throw this away?” Could you get that same information again? Usually, the answer would be yes.
If you’re not doing the above already, I promise you that this exercise alone will be an eye opener on how productive you really are.
It’s not just about marking things off a checklist, but accomplishing things that truly matter.
