It’s not what you say, but how you say it. In this week’s session of The DancePreneuring Studio, I have a conversation with my friend Emeroy Bernardo. Emeroy is a performance coach, dancer, choreographer and author. He has some great concepts to share on how to communicate effectively, plus you’ll be encouraged as he describes how he turned yesterday’s trials into today’s triumphs.
- Step to Success: Just as steps are necessary in a dance, there are steps to success in your life and business. In this segment, we discuss a step in the form of an app, a book, or a concept that will help you move forward. Today’s step is a tool to help you streamline communications with your team and your clients via Slack.
- The Dancers’ Dialect: Dance terminology as it relates to life and business. The word for today in the Dancer’s Dialect is petit allegro, a term meaning small jumps or turns that help with developing coordination, musicality and quick footwork. There are numerous variations of this section done in ballet class. Check out this video of Ballet Magnificat! doing a petit allegro combination. It looks effortless so don’t be fooled by the “smallness” of these steps. It takes a lot of stamina and strength to make this combination look the way it does. I love how they break down the steps toward the end in slow motion.
- Feature Presentation: My friend Emeroy Bernardo and I discuss the importance of getting feedback for improvement, how to communicate effectively through different styles, and helping others with small victories so that they lead to big wins.
