You can have ESP (Expectations of Something Positive) in every situation, even if the situation is less than ideal. In this session of The DancePreneuring Studio, I give you 5 things to help you do this.
- Step to Success: A step to your success is anything that moves your life and your business forward. Whether it’s an app, a book or an idea, you can apply something today that can help you succeed. Video Speed Controller is a free extension on the Chrome browser that speeds up, slows down, advances and rewinds any HTML5 video with quick shortcuts. For me, I find that I stay more focused and retain better when I’m able to speed up the video. I do this with the podcasts that I listen to, and you’ll find that if you revert back to the normal speed of playing, it seems really slow.
- Dancer’s Dialect: The Dancer’s Dialect is the dancer’s language. I share dance terminology and concepts across different genres so you can see the correlations in your life and in your business. It seems like the words humble and warrior don’t go together right? Well, they do and the word for today in the dancer’s dialect is humble warrior. This term is actually used in Yoga, but this stretch is used in different dance classes as part of a warm up. You want to make sure you are warm as with any stretch to get the most out of it and for injury prevention. You are in a lunge position, ideally with your back leg straight and pulled up off the floor, engaging your muscles, and your forearms and elbows are on the floor. In Yoga, it’s described as a pose with surrender and strength. Being a warrior is not always about aggression and force. Strength can still come from moments of stillness. Post Note: I was told this is a humble warrior, when it actually is called a lizard pose. If anyone knows for sure, I would love clarification : )
- Freestyle Flow: I was at another tv show taping as an audience member and I met this woman who was supposedly a screenwriter. I say supposedly because the name she gave me was different from the name she had given when she was called out, so I do give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she didn’t want her real name revealed, however, she told me she was in the process of writing a screenplay. Our conversation started with what she knew about the tv show we were at (of course I had no idea who or what was in it and what it was about) and how she liked it, etc. When I introduced myself to her, she gave me this surprised look, and told me that the main character in her screenplay is named Annett (but with an e at the end). She proceeded to tell me that she only writes when she is inspired. There is probably more to her process than that, but it got me thinking that if we all waited to do things only when we feel inspired, then a lot of things would not get done. I think that inspiration does come out of the blue, but in the doing of day to day consistent order tramadol uk application, inspiration and creativity is also birthed. There are times when we don’t feel like doing certain things, but we know that they are necessary for progression. And some of those times when we least feel like doing, is when we have the biggest breakthroughs.
- Feature Presentation: I remember when I was in elementary school, Aliamanu Elementary School in Hawaii and we had those cubbies to put our stuff in. They looked exactly like the ones you see in the IKEA furniture stores. And as the cover, we had to make our name into an acronym on cardstock paper. I still remember using the stencil cut outs to trace the letters. At that time I was really into ice skating and roller skating so for the letter “A,” I used Advanced Skater–not that I was necessarily one, but that I wanted to be one. I was speaking what I wanted into existence. There are three important components to this: 1. I was speaking what I wanted into existence 2. I saw this display cover everyday as I was putting my stuff away into this cubby. 3. I was putting in the action to become what I wanted
It would be one thing to just speak something because you are wishing for it, without putting in the necessary focused effort to accomplishing it.ACRONYM: Alphabetical Code for Remembering Odd Names You Make upLYLAS: Love You Like A SisterKISS: Keep It Simple SweetheartLOL: Laughing Out LoudVOLVO: Very Odd Looking Vehicular ObjectDUH: Don’t Understand, Huh?ITALY: I Trust and Love YouBFF: Best Friends ForeverSMART: Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Time Bound (For Goals)The acronym that I have been focusing on lately is ESP. No, I don’t mean Extrasensory Perceptions or the electronic stability program in a car, I am talking about ESP as Expectations of Something Positive1. Turn your tension into intention (How?) The importance of proper breathing, if possible close your eyes for a bit.2. You can only control two things, right here and right now.3. When you are harsh on yourself, imagine if you were talking to the 3 year old version of yourself, would you be that critical?4. Focus as quickly as possible on 5 things that you can be thankful right at that moment. For example, if you are in traffic, and find yourself getting irritated: here are 5 things you can focus on:-Be thankful that You’re safe and not in an accident-You have the ability to turn on some calming or upbeat music-It gives you time to think creatively about something else.-You can listen to an audio book.-Dictate a to do list on your phone for later5. Know that having ESP in every situation is a process and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t find it right away. Like anything else, if you continually focus on that process, you will get better at it, regardless of the circumstances. There is always good that comes out of situations.
Question: What is your favorite acronym and why?
