He Made Me Do It

Have you ever heard someone justify their actions by ending with:

“He made me do it.”

or “He did it so I did.”

This is what I heard all day today from some kids who were explaining to another adult as to why they made the decisions they did.

And it’s not so much the verbiage but the fact that the blame is being placed elsewhere.

No responsibility.

Have you justified your actions by placing the blame on someone else or some other circumstance?

I certainly have.

I have had to take a long hard look in the mirror and remind myself that I am responsible for the choices I make, good and bad.

It’s so easy to get caught up with “if only this…then this…”

Especially in the heat of a discussion, buy cipro cheap online meeting, or like the children I witnessed today.

There is one simple thing that you can do to take responsibility.

Just choose to take responsibility. And move on.

Stop, think and remind yourself that you and only you have the power to make your own choices.

Detach yourself from the result so that you can learn from it.

You are special, unique and created to do awesome things.

And most importantly, you are STILL special, unique and created to do awesome things even if your choices are not so ideal.

You can always make better choices next time.

Do you feel that you take complete ownership and responsibility for your life? How would you have advised a child that blamed someone else for their choices?  I would appreciate your feedback.
