I'm Beautiful and I Know It

My hair was silky and blond.

My eyes were sparkly and blue.

Blond DollI was popular and admired…

..In my dreams.

Yes, when I was younger, I wish I was the above.

I thought that blondes set the beauty standard and always had the advantage in every situation.

And if you didn’t have blond hair and blue eyes, you were severely lacking in your life.  Something was wrong with you.

Pretty foolish, huh?

Blondes are beautiful, but so are brunettes, red heads and every other description that identifies with a specific hair color.

It’s not about the hair anyway.

I bring this up because I recently saw a picture of a former friend.

I say former as we no longer have any real contact due to distance and because of her life choices.

Although if I saw her today, I would gladly embrace her and treat her with kindness and respect.

Every human deserves that.

She looks unrecognizable due to prominent enhancements, overly bleached hair, self-imposed skin issues, and unhealthy weight loss.

It saddened me, actually.

This could be for a number of reasons but because of the history I had with buy cipro generic her, I can only speculate that she was unhappy with what was going on inside, and made choices that manifested on the outside.

Now, I am all for improving your personal appearance and being healthy on the inside and the outside. It seems like I have been working on this forever!

However, their is a fine balance in this area.

How do you have balance in this area?

  • Know deeply that God created you intentionally, inside and out.  You are not an accident.
  • If you know who you are on the inside, that will naturally manifest on the outside.
  • Accept your little idiosyncrasies. We all have them and they’re what prevent you from being a cookie cutter copy and reveal you as a truly unique masterpiece.
  • Look beyond the exterior of people and things and appreciate the beauty that is within them.
  • If there are areas that you want to change or improve on the outside, examine the reasons why and set appropriate goals.

What misconceptions are prevalent today regarding beauty and outward appearance? I would love your feedback!
